Stress Free Holidays

I love going travelling. I love seeing new places, experiencing new food and cultures and in general being relatively stress/responsibility free for a few weeks. However in order to enjoy all this without having to worry if everything is being taken care of in my real life I need to do some planning beforehand.

Here are my top ten tips that I have found have taken the stresses out of holidays for me.

1. Make sure your passport is in date and not damaged well before your departure date (before booking flights if you can).

2. Ensure that you have any necessary visas needed for the countries you are visiting. Most countries these days allow you to apply for visas online, but you need to give yourself plenty of time. Have details of where you are staying and visa numbers somewhere you can easily access, this saves time and stress when filling in immigration documents.

3. If you can pre-pay your bills online or set a reminder in your phone when you know a bill is due and pay it online.

4. If you are going for a long time (anything over two weeks is long in my book) let your local post office know in case you get any packages so that they won’t return to sender.

5. Organise transport to the airport ahead of time, this saves you from panicking when you order a taxi at the last minute.

6. Check with the airline/airport how long you need to be at the airport before your flight departs. Different airports/airlines have different times.

7. Don’t leave packing until the last minute. Pack at least one day in advance if not more to avoid the last minute packing stress.

8. Load your money onto a travel money card before you leave.

9. Get travel insurance – don’t skimp on this, you need it.

10. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep and drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your holiday, you want your body in tip top shape for all the fun you are going to have.

Hopefully these tips will help you get organised a little bit better for your holidays and you can just concentrate on having fun and making awesome memories.
