Exhale Mindfulness Studio

Last Saturday morning I was lucky enough to attend a 30 minute group guided meditation session in Exhale Mindfulness Studio which is located in a quiet little street in West Perth. The meditation was led by Megan.

When google maps directed me to turn onto Lawrence Street I could have sworn I was back in San Francisco. It’s a beautiful street with a narrow little road and a slight incline and a very subtle vibe which just immediately relaxes your soul.

I was running slightly late due to some roadworks in the area and was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to find the space in time but there was very helpful sign out on the footpath directing me where to go. I love little touches like this.

The space itself is perfection, it is light and airy and very intimate. The second I walked through the door I instantly felt relaxed, there was a beautiful aroma of lavender and just in general a great vibe about the room.

The meditation cushions (Zafus) and meditation mats (Zabutons) were really comfortable and we were given the option of either lying or sitting or indeed switching positions half way though if we found ourselves inclined to do so. This was something actually that really impressed me, it might seem small and insignificant to tell people that they are free to move around during the meditation but if it’s your first time meditating or just your first time in a new group of people I think little housekeeping tips like this are really thoughtful. It can be scary and intimidating trying anything for the first time so I really liked that Megan put everyone at ease immediately.

The meditation itself mostly focused on breathing and at the end on gratitude. I found Megan’s voice very soothing and relaxing and the whole experience to be a really positive one. I don’t want to give away too much about the actual experience during the meditation as each person will have a very personal and different experience but what I will say is that I will definitely be back for more sessions. I left the room on Saturday morning feeling like I was walking on air and with a far more positive attitude to the day than I arrived with.

The studio offers 30 minute group guided mediation sessions 6 days a week along with some signature workshops. All the information can be found on their website www.exhalemindfulness.com
